Safe Zone is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to ending domestic violence in Southern Nevada. Domestic Violence is a criminal behavior that affects individuals, families and the wider society. By visiting this website, you too can Get Involved and help create a safer community and world for us all.
Domestic Violence Statistics
United States
- 1 in 4 US Women have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner at some point in her life.
- 1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence each year, and 90% of these children are eyewitnesses to this violence.
State of Nevada
- In 2020, Nevada domestic violence programs served 21,121 victims.
- For many years, Nevada consistently ranked 1st in the nation for domestic violence fatalities.
- In 2017, Nevada ranked 4th in the rate of femicide. 56% of these femicides were committed by intimate partners, and of these, 67% were killed with firearms.
